Recently, one of our Kristen Marie Photography colleagues made a comment that really brought us back to our roots. They said that our job is to really get to know our clients, connect with them and to tell their stories – we just happen to use photography to do that.
Really getting to know our clients, whether it’s a couple getting married or family portraits, is important to help us pick the right setting and to be able to tell their story.
People They Know and Like
To be honest, the rest of the comment they made was “People do business with people they connect with, people that they know and that they like.” As they pointed out, they LOVED our photos and how we tell stories with our images but didn’t know a lot about Kristen Marie Photography – or specifically about Kristen.
So here it goes, our Q & A with Kristen! We’re sure you’ll learn so many new things about Kristen, why she loves photography and why our photography clients love her!
How Kristen Marie Photography Began
This Spring Kristen Marie Photography celebrates our 11th Anniversary! Long before that day 11 years ago, Kristen started our much like the rest of the world – with an old point-and-shoot Polaroid Instamatic camera. Needless to say, a lot has changed since those childhood days.
Kristen actually had other career plans, but life has all sorts of twists and turns and her twists took Kristen back to her love of photography and documenting amazing days in people’s lives.
When you ask Kristen what her favorite part of her job is, she will usually say she enjoys seeing people on their happiest days. “As crazy as the world is, it’s really someone’s happiest day, and you can just feel it from them, their family, and friends. It really brings me joy to get to experience that with people.”
10 Things You Never Knew About Kristen.
1 – Kristen was born in Bayside, NY, and is a huge fan of those big, greasy, cheesy NY pizza slices. It reminds her of home growing up.
2- She has a degree in Criminal Justice and a certification in Forensic Science. She was headed to Law School before life brought her back to her love of photography.
3 – On her day off, she loves to head out fishing on their family’s pontoon boat.
4- Kristen is definitely a night owl – don’t talk to her in the morning until she’s had her Dunkin Donuts coffee.
5 – In her home, animals outnumber humans. She and her husband have been together for 17 years and have two children, ages 10 and 13. But, they have 2 dogs, 4 cats, and two 150 gallon fish tanks of fish!
6 – Kristen’s taste in music is super eclectic – from Phil Collins to Disturbed and anything Country. Her first concert – way, way back – was the Backstreet Boys.
7 – Some people would say she’s slightly obsessed with Christmas and collects Santa’s from Impossible Dreams and Department 56 Christmas Houses.
8 – As a teen, she was on MTV quite a few times following the Backstreet Boys.
9 – Family is super important to her – she took care of both of her parents while dying.
10 – Kristen is actually very, very shy and introverted. That is until you get her to open up and then “I really don’t shut up.” LOL
And, this is just the tip of the iceberg! We know that when you get to know Kristen, you’ll just fall in love with her.
