3 Reasons You’ll Be Late For Your Wedding

3 Reasons You’ll Be Late For Your Wedding

As Tampa Bay wedding photographers, we see many couples running late (and stressing out) on their wedding day. Our Kristen Marie Photography team wants to share the top 3 reasons you’ll be late for your wedding. And how to avoid them!

#1 – Hair and Makeup Takes Longer Thank You Think

Your wedding day doesn’t start with your wedding ceremony. It’s the focus of your day, but not the beginning of your wedding day. For most brides, the wedding day begins with hair and makeup. And, if you don’t build enough time into your morning, you WILL be behind for the rest of the day.

Work with your artists to determine how long each of the services you and the wedding party have. Then, make a schedule and make sure everyone in your wedding party knows their timing.

Be sure you look at whether moms, grandmas, and flower girls need hair and makeup too. Adding people in at the last minute can easily spin things out of control. Be sure to discuss if the artists want them ready with clean faces and dry hair. And, consider having food delivered to where ever you are getting ready.

Things like wandering off for lunch, running home, or back to their room for shoes, dresses, or whatever will eat up tons of valuable time.

#2 – It’s All In The Details

In many cases, wedding photographers are asked to shoot lots of couples’ wedding details while the wedding parties are getting ready. Things like shoes, jewelry, perfume, bouquets, and invitations. All those special things you put lots of time and thought into before your wedding day.

We love arranging those details to give you amazing photos that are part of the story of your wedding day. So, it’s important to have them all together and ready to be photographed – this means communicating with your florist to make sure your bouquet is there too.

We want to make sure you aren’t chasing down those details, and we don’t like to be bothering you while you’re getting ready. But, of course, this applies to the guys too!

#3 – Let’s Talk About Drive Time

You might have plotted out the drive time from where you are getting ready to your wedding ceremony. But, even if you are getting ready in the same building as your ceremony moving a wedding party takes time.

Even with no traffic, a fifteen-minute drive can take an additional fifteen minutes loading up a wedding party, bags, shoes, and flowers. And, don’t forget you’re wearing a wedding dress and trying to stay pressed and clean. Even getting everyone together and downstairs in an elevator takes more time than you think.

So, count backward from your wedding ceremony. Figure on arriving fifteen minutes before your ceremony starts. Allow for travel time and pad it for loading and unloading vehicles and moving all of your stuff. Have all of your details ready for photography and build in plenty of time for hair and makeup. Because everything takes longer than you think!
