Why We Use a Professional Second Shooter | Tampa Wedding Photographer

There are some great benefits to having a second shooter. It leaves it to where the primary shooter is with the bride and the secondary shooter is with the groom, allowing more time to be spent with each person. Angles and areas that two people can’t be in. Churches are a great example as to the benefit of a second shooter. Sometimes churches have second levels, having a second shooter allows you to get wide angles from the top and angles from the ground level from your primary shooter. Most Catholic churches also do not allow for movement. Having a second shooter allows for two photographers to stay within the church guidelines and allows for multiple areas to be covered. Some photographers use students, or people they know who have basic camera knowledge. I use another professional photographer, I make nothing on hiring her what I charge out for her is what she is paid. Why? well, to begin with, you are paying money for a second shooter to capture your wedding day memories you want the same quality images as your primary. I want to be sure that your money is getting you images that can actually be used and not put in the ditch pile. Hiring a professional that shoots in the same ways your primary does leaves less edit work and more consistency in the editing. A professional second shooter shoots weddings or has experience shooting weddings so there are no gaps in the coverage between your professional primary and your professional secondary. I work with one second shooter for the most part. My second shooter and I have a relationship and understanding of how a wedding works and what needs to be covered while the other is handling other aspects of the wedding photography coverage.  My second shooter runs her own business and also shoots weddings.

Do you need a second shooter?  Think about the aspects of your wedding day that you know you want covered. The more details and guests the bigger likelihood you want a second shooter. We have second shot at weddings with as little as 40 guests. Did the couple benefit from two shooters then? yes, most definitely. Ceremony coverage was doubled, the walk down the beach had someone at the top for the first emotion and the other shooter was down at the site to capture the grooms expression as his bride made her way down the aisle.    There are always benefits. I would be happy to answer any questions couples have about second shooters for their wedding day event!   Below are images captured by my second shooter and edited by me (even though you have a second shooter all editing does go through me, the primary) so that you can see the consistency in the images.
