The Florida Aquarium Wedding Couples Formals
These two lovelies were married over the summer and had used another photographer to capture their day. They called me about two months ago after they got those photos and the bride was looking to drive up from down south to redo her couples photos because they were to dark and nothing can be seen. She called me back with a date to see if I was open as the aquarium was letting them in before they opened to redo their couples photos. unfortunately, their family and wedding party wasn’t local for photos.
I’m going to use this as an education post of sorts. Guys, with locations like the aquarium please ask for sample photos or sample gallery of their darkest wedding. The Aquarium has some really unique things to consider. It’s a highly reflective location. Regular flash in most areas isn’t going to work you will see it reflect in the tank behind you. Nothing pretty about that. LED’s are a huge asset to us when shooting at this location. it gives that extra boost of light without causing a reflection issue or to cast ugly flash on the couple. It’s really a challenging location to new and unfamiliar photographers. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give an awesome photographer a chance you just want to see something of similar exposure. It’s probably one of the more challenging locations in the Tampa area.
If the price seems to good to be true it likely is- Something to consider with pricing and why you are paying what you are for a photographer. We have all sorts of equipment that we know can handle these sorts of situations. Extra equipment at that. Everything we have can handle the higher number we have to use on our camera these things cost money. Insurance is a MUST seriously it’s there to protect you in the event of any number of issues that can arise. again, that costs us every year ontop of our memberships to things like professional photographers of america and up keep alone on our equipment can get costly. If a photographer tells you for full day they are $500 chances are you are getting an inexperienced photographer or someone who is just trying to break through. Breaking through isn’t an issue we all start somewhere. The aquarium and someones wedding images there isn’t the place to do that. Couples are left in tears with dark images that they feel they can’t use.
This certainly isn’t to talk down their photographer there are any number of variables in play however I saw the images that were delivered and really with the proper lighting so much more could have been done.
