Let them wear….Black?

When we did this couples engagement session last year I was super excited to hear the bride was opting for an all black wedding including her wedding dress. The black with the red was everything I expected and more. I love when a couple does things their way and doesn’t feel obligated to fit into a certain type of box. The bride was wearing black and didn’t care what anyone thought. I love that sort of confidence. 

The Barn at Winthrop Weddings 

Two things I like about this location- It’s not your typical barn and secondly, it’s 10 minutes from my house. The distance doesn’t happen often. The only other time is when we photography a wedding at Cross Creek Ranch. The barn has an open porch area with market lights which make for some amazingly beautiful night portraits. I knew with The brides style and her love of things dark suggesting night portraits was going to be an absolute hit. The barn inside is equally surprising. It’s not your typical brow

First Looks

I love first looks. With a first look you have the opportunity to get so many things done before the ceremony. Sunsets don’t have to be worried about in terms of ceremony ending to close to sunset and couples can really enjoy cocktail hour by either being a part of it or just sitting in the room eating something by themselves before reception starts. I have never had a couple regret it and often enough a groom still cries when his bride walks down the aisle. All of this couples daytime formal shots were done prior to ceremony as they wanted to relax during cocktail hour. 

Evening Portrait Wedding Photos 

Some venues are really setup for night time shots and this venue has one of the best evening setups. I almost prefer their location at night than the daytime because of the lighting. It’s am absolute hidden gem for the Riverview area and I look forward to photographing more weddings at the Barn at Winthrop
