Maternity Session Prep Advice

So, you want a maternity session but aren’t sure what to expect out of your session. When planning for your engagement session it is best to think about the overall look you want. Timing is everything. Most moms to be do not actually show their full pregnancy belly until the 35 and up mark. Around 36 and 37 weeks you are fully showing and not yet at the uncomfortable part of your pregnancy.

Outfits

Consider the location you are at. Heals on a beach just won’t work. If you are on a more city scape consider your surroundings heels would be appropriate but may be a little uncomfortable. If you are looking for more flow and bare feet then the beach is the way to go. A dress with a little flow dresses up the bump and can add a lot of personality to your images. Consider the same for your spouse. 1 outfit change is recommended if you are wanting to do one but a lot of moms opt for one.

Backdrop

If you are’t a beach person then pregnancy isn’t the time to try it out. Find an area you are comfortable with. Typically for beach sessions your session would start 1 hour before sunset so it won’t be “as hot”. while you want beautiful photos to commemorate this time be mindful that you want to be comfortable in your surroundings as well.
