Our Kristen Marie Photography team loved photographing Cory and Kelly’s wedding. South Asian weddings have such beautiful colors and details, and theirs was no exception.
About the Bride and Groom
Cory and Kelly have been together for quite a while. As a matter of fact, they were initially neighbors, and her family still lives next door.
While they were legally married, it was important to the bride to have a traditional Indian wedding ceremony. For Cory, it was important for his family from out of state to attend. So when COVID quieted just a bit, they hosted an intimate wedding.
Henna, Saris and Bangles
The most recognizable detail of an Indian wedding has the be the beautiful bride. The incredible color of a wedding sari and the intricate embroidery with gold thread are so beautiful.
The sari paired with traditional henna adorning the bride’s hands, shimmering bangle bracelets, and other jewelry, and you have a wedding photographer’s dream.
One detail unique to Cory and Kelly’s wedding was their choice to have each other’s names tattooed on their ring fingers in place of wedding bands.
The Wedding Ceremony
Indian wedding ceremonies are beautiful. They are layered with tradition, family, and beautiful details.
The temple is filled with statues of gods. Each with unique coloring and details, creating a brilliant backdrop for the wedding ceremony.
We really like capturing the couple’s intimate moments during the wedding ceremony and all of the details in each element.
Dinner, Dancing, and Dessert
The reception venue is a local dance studio with mirrors and lots of natural light, which was a wonderful setting for some portraits of the newlyweds.
The reception was all about family, dancing, and fantastic food. We love how much fun Cory and Kelly had during their first dance.
One unique detail that went unseen was the fact that Kelly cooked all of the traditional Indian foods for their wedding reception.
The bright red wedding cake with shimmering gold mandala-inspired piping was a beautiful reception detail the couple included in their day.
Cory and Kelly’s wedding was a pleasure to document from beginning to end.
